Ann,
Was he bobbing his head?
He looks pissed. His beard will turn black and the bobbing of the head means back off. That is the way that they communicate with each other.
If it was a smaller one sunning, the bigger would puff his beard. The smaller one, if he didn't want to fight, would then wave one of his front arms as a sign that he will give it up.
I noticed that this one the beard is a lot darker than the other other images!

Wow Ann! Doesn't get much better than this! The Backgound color and intensity . . . along with the DOF certainly sets off your subject with amazing clarity. The exposure, light, color and composition are spot-on. Award worthy work!!
