With a small exception of some sharpness problems at the tip of its let wing a very nice macro in a balanced composition. The monarch seems to shine in front of the darker background, and this shine together with its separation from the surroundings by selective focus gives his Majesty the necessary photographic honor!

Hi Christine! I guess I missed this as well. I had the oppportunity to shoot these in the Philippines and the best time is when it's cools so they're not too active. One thing I just learned (thru Gennaro Manna) is to use flash to get the best lighting so that ISO doesn't need to be cranked up. Beauty of photography - we always learn! Hope to see you around.
