About The sunset illuminates the never-ending cycle of waves carving magnificent rock monoliths along the headlands of Oregon's coast. Look closer and you'll find a gull on a rock and a Starfish below.

I have been trying to capture this one for quite a while. Wave action, sky and light are a difficult combination to capture just right, especially when the tide levels dictate that I can only access this place at sunset about once every two weeks or so.

I hope you like it. This is Oregon's central coast. Thanks for comments.

Nice shutter speed selection Marc, it captures the energy and wildness of the sea and the spray. I like the touches of the gull and the starfish showing life can survive even in this sort of wildness.

Great capture. Like the water effect. Well taken. John

Another wonderful shot. Yes, tidal water adds a whole new dimension to getting shots like this just right. It looks like a great location, though.

I like the "spikiness" and light gradient you have captured in the spray. But somehow I feel that the rocks look as though they should be bigger, rising higher above the water.

Marc -- Great capture! The thing I like best about this one is the energy conveyed by the waves jetting straight up as they break against those rocks. Great choice of shutter speed. As usual in your images, all compositional elements are well worked: the gentle C curve, the contrast of dark-to-light focusing your eye on the water jets, and the total absence of unnecessary elements. Two thumbs up, and glad to see your work posted here. It is most inspiring (and thanks, again, for adding technical notes on the making!).

Cheers,
-Mike.

You obviously have put in a lot of dedication in capturing this shot.

I only wish I could see it on a larger scale, so that I can better see its qualities.

I do like the symmetry the almost-vertical monoliths and the spray offer.

Can also imagine that it must be a special place that you never get tired of visiting!

Best wishes, Alice.

Marc, it's good to see you back with your wonderful imagery. Where have you been? We missed your fabulous capture and control of light, especially the LANDSCAPE shots. You gave me some good advice when we were on another site and am most grateful. Best Wishes for the Season
Regards
JD
