Woooww.... Christine,
Simply - but so hard to get - a perfect shot. Razorsharp and a excellent point of view. Nice colors and I like that there is a bit of momvement in the wingtips, that increases the dynamics of this wonderful shot. My compliments, great work !
Friendly greetings, Albert Jacobs :)

wow you are a quick learner! Moody day shots are amoung the hardest as these digital camera sensors love light, you seem to have has no problem locking on and getting an excellent capture. very nice exposure and detail, the full wingspread is excellent, Crissy fields is not the easiest place to shoot pelicans either as they seldom come close. I was trying to get a flock going over the golden gate awile back but no such luck ..

Thanks, Rich. Your portfolio is really growing, you have some great wildlife shots in it. Marcus and Yamil have been a great help with my shots. Plus, they put so much info on their photos that I learn just from reading how they shot it.
Maybe we all can arrange an outing sometime in 2007-- that might be fun.

Thanks, Yamil :) Yes, the weather was grey. I have a bunch of great pelican poses, but not much contrast, so... not happy! The next time I went it was sunny, but no pelicans, so... not happy! Maybe I'll try to go to La Jolla in January, that would be a nice little trip :)
I'm going to try to get to Mountain View in the next couple of days-- the weather should be nice. December is a tough one for me because I have a lot of volunteer work with the rescue. Good to know that the birds will be there for a couple of months (I think). I look forward to seeing some pics of the Golden Eye.
Thanks again for your comments, my friend. Take care!

Dear Christine, I would never get tired of pictures like this one. Probably the weather was not that great that day, but this shot came out awesome. If you are interested, Ano Nuevo is another great place for Pelicans. Elkhorn Slough is excelent too, but you have to take a kayak. La Jolla in San Diego is probably the best spot in the world to photograph pelicans with their unique breeding plumage and the best time is January. BTW, there are lots of Horned Grebes, Canvasback, Common Goldeneye and Surf Scoter at Shoreline Lake in Shoreline Park, Mountain View. The best time is usually early morning. Take care and hope to see you around. Yamil
