About
At 4am on Memorial Day in the US I arose and drove the short distance from Moab thinking I would have this place to myself. I had scouted out the area the night before and found a rock ledge that I guessed would be perfect to work from. Arriving in the dark - in that pre-dawn light I was amazed - and - disspointed to find 12 other photographers already set up on "my" ledge. That as it turns out is one big problem of American National Parks. So many really great spots are accessible by car - This spot is 100 metres from the car park. What it means of course is that you just have to work a lot harder to get something different. I particularly like the light on this. BUT - back to the story, I didn't bother getting on to the ledge on memorial day - it was a blessing in disguise - I went around to the other side and got some great shots, but this image was on a return visit 2 weeks later when I had the place to myself for sunrise - Ahh! - Wilderness.
Lovely David and these arches are somthing special. You are so right about the overcrowding proplem at many "great photo spots" We experience the same here. That actually motivates me to look for the roads less travelled bacause if there is one place of beauty in an area there must be many more to find - most people are lazy and dont find them though.
