Have to say I was surprised (major understatement), especially with the amazing worldwide talent on this site.
I often look at the nominations for the POD's and say 'yep, that's a brilliant shot!' but did not think this one fell into that category, it's just one of my rusty obsessions! LOL
Before you go out snapping, just check on your dad to make sure he isn't attacking things (namely cars) with screwdrivers and such, I am worried!

OK, I'm cruisin' through the past photos that I missed when I was away, and found this. THIS I shouldn't have missed. THIS is incredible. You did a fantastic job with the details here, everything is so crisp and sharp. Wonderful details, and the colors are stunning. Rust and peeling paint, what more could a girl want?!? Congrats on the Photo of the Day recognition. You have given rust a new meaning; raised the condition in the eyes of the world. People will be clamoring for the colorful rust look in their utes and suv's. I am going out in the rain right now and chipping paint off my SUV so I achieve the same effect in a few years. You are proving that you are a trend-setter.

I had a very spooky cross-commenting moment there...was replying to Leonie's comment on my 'defense mechanism' post, when your comment came through, and then the award notification for that post, which I thought must have been for this one as I had seen Joel nominate it for a PoD, so was surprised to see it for the echidna! then your comment for this shot, then the award notification for this one...was very weird, so now I am off to see the good doctor for some pills to calm my jangling nerves!!
