Doyle, I love the way your comments always require a response! So, here goes...

Why the fast shutter? Well, you pretty much answer that yourself. Checking the EXIF info shows I had this on full zoom, at which I think max aperture is 4.5. And I was already using lowest ISO of 200. As this was shot in very bright sunlight, a fast shutter was essential. Or am I missing something?

Yes, I wanted the narrow DOF. And I wanted an asymmetric reflection, as well as an asymmetric layout. This is almost certainly a subject I'll be revisiting.

AJ

PS. I'm off to Warsaw in 10 days so maybe you could airfreight some of your weather there?

John:
Wow! Fast shutter speed for a still life. Any particular reason for that choice? Not that the end-result isn't pleasing . . . It is . . . but the aperture at 3.5 might have narrowed the DOF more (if you wanted). The composition looks good . . . nice off-balance yet symetrical layout that adds just a bit of dynamics and the double reflective on the lower mirrored left and right orange sphere give the shot some realism . . . while not detracting from the abstract value of the composition. The colors complement each other nicely too. Nicely exposed and richly colored.

It was 92 degrres F here yesterday (a record), 90 expected today. I'd be willing to loan you a small bottle of our summer weather (for a small fee) . . . if you'd like! LoL! :) Should I pack it in ice to ship it??? Hehehehee!

Looks like the "learning curve" is in the rear view mirror now, huh?

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
