About
Esthwaite Water is a small lake (approx 1.5 miles long by .5 miles wide) trapped between the larger lakes of Windermere and Coniston in the Lake District, Cumbria, England.
It also lies in Beatrix Potter country (the author of Peter Rabbit etc) near the tiny village of Far Sawrey where she used to live in a house called 'Hill Top'.
I could have gone 2 ways with this image, i could have left all the tree's as silhouettes which would have left a bit more colour in the sky and its reflection, or this way, where i have tried to make it look a bit more what it was actually like when i took it by bringing out some detail in the tree's.
Suffice to say i could have also named this 'Before The Rain' because about 15 minutes after i took it some big dark clouds moved in from the right (you can just see the start of them in the picture) and the heavens opened and it rained for the rest of the night!
Very VERY cool shot! I love the reflections in the still water! The colors are great, I like the way you left the detail in the trees instead of the silhouettes, but I am sure either would looks great! If you rotate it 90 degrees to the right it looks like some sort of colorful inkblot test! I like this, just awesome! Well done :) ~Rachel~
