About #3 in a series. Not sure when this series will end, so many....

The irony of this shot lies in the newspaper in the foreground. The visible part of the headline - "Feeskos" - is in Afrikaans, and speaks of a local politicians outrageous lunch bill at a seriously upmarket restaurant.
"feeskos" roughly translated, means "food festival". Apparantly his lunch bill was to the order of approx USD 14000.
I did not place the newspaper, but did highlight the headline slightly for US.

I also preferred the Man with the birds (without detracting from this one ) but the irony of this just had to be shown...
Being with these people certainly shows up some harsh realities that we commonly ignore...

Thanks Andre.
I suppose normally I would have made it slightly darker, but it was early in the morning, very grey and cold. I tried to keep that feel - perhaps not as successfully as I would have liked.

Compositionally #2 with the birds is better than this, but the juxtaposition of the headline (although I did need the 'About' to explain it) and the scavanging adds a lot of poignancy to this one. Excellent series Chris, just one day with that sort of experience can be life changing. Thanks for sharing.

A great series Chris.
Hard to look at... as it should be.
My personal taste with a serious image like this would tend to lean towards a darker image. Somehow, the harshness of this one seems to work like this for me as well.

Thanks for commenting Hani. Interesting point you make - something to keep in mind. Thanks again.

GREAT MOMENT captured.
However, maybe a bit of depth in terms of having a mid ground and background would have worked better. i.e. could have used that truck behind to establish such. But great lens.
