About Neighbor Dale, looking up at the Redwoods in our back yard.

This was taken at the end of a very long day. We had held a yard sale in our shared driveway to cover the costs of our neighborhood efforts to save 21 Redoowd trees. One woman on our block wanted to cut down 21 Redwoods in her backyard. We didn't want them to go. And we won...the trees stay :) We just needed to cover our legal costs, and we did.

Dale looked up at the trees a few minutes after our neighborhood toast to the success of the yard sale. So glad that I had my camera. :)

Awww... thanks pops!

I too like the b/w version. More drama is his expression.

Off to hug a tree.

Thank mate!

Yeah... we were not about to let our afternoon shade under the Redwoods go away, just so some woman could build a huge house on the lot to turn around and sell for millions of profit. She had to go down! What was great was, people that came by our yard sale, if they didn't buy anything, still donated to our cause. It was wonderful!
Everyone on the block came to sell stuff!

Thanks again for the comments!
..and yes, I do like the b/w better.. packs more of a punch.

cheers,
-Joel

Good work on this color portrait, Joel. I like the B&W of Dale a bit more but the symbolic reflection of those beautiful trees make this "special".
Join the ranks of the tree huggers and enjoy the shade.

Oh, Joel, what a great image, and what a great story!

Joel, you are similar to me! I never hold back in standing up for something that I believe to be wrong, unfair or unjust! Go mate!!!!!!

We did excactly the same thing a few years ago. Some people from Sydney wanted to build a house with a silver coloured roof in our street. So, all of us banded together, got a solicitor, and away we went!!! Guess what? We won, also!!! :) Consequently, they built a house with a dark grey roof, never spoke to one of us in the street, sold it, and moved away! Hooray!!! :)))

I have to say, I preferred the B&W version of your neighbour, however, this one is still good!

Go mate!!!! :)

Cheers

Phil

Congratulations on winning the battle Joel, and on capturing this look of quiet satisfaction on his face. Nicely done.
