Thanks Doyle, its just a shame fall is the shortest season here as it is glorious. I loved your SF skyline btw, wonderful shot.

Gabriela, part of what I like about Usefilm is meeting people from around the world and using photography as a means of sharing my environment, and learning more about theirs. I promise I shall not pass a stand of birch trees without looking to see if I can get you another picture :) Delighted you share my love of them too.

The birch trees are my favourites! When I went on a trip to Russia, some thirty years ago, and found a forest of these trees I was left speechless!!! We have them here, too, in Hokkaido, the northern island - which is considered the "Japanese Canada" - but not in an impressive number. Thanks for writing to me! Friendly regards from around Yokohama, Gabriela

Gabriela, This is more natural view and provides the viewer a better perspective of the forest I quite agree but I also like the bolder contrast of the other image and its intense colours, makes for an overall more dramatic image. I have some of the same stand in B&W I might share with you later, the birch are still dramatic even removing the fall colours.

I definitely prefer this version - which I have just found - to the one you posted later.Love birch trees (they say it is an expression of the Russian soul)and here they have a lovely visual effect, as if setting a balance to the invading colours of autumn. Gabriela

The sad part of this shot to me is it lost some of it's clarity and intensity in the resizing. The original is just so much more vivid when viewed side by side. I may retry and see if I can't do better job at resizing it without so much loss. I too am a big fan of the birch trees.....here I thought they might be be somehow foreign to you!

Beautiful pastel colours. I love birch trees, I had to chain myself to a huge one in my front yard when the telephone company wanted to cut half of her limbs off. We found another way! Maybe I will introduce you to her one day. CC
