About If memory serves, this is a sculpture by Rodin who was living on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (and some of the city too). It was shot several years ago (same trip as the doll-head picture).

I scanned this from a print. I did put the scanned image into PS and adjust the brightness (-20) and the contrast (+5). Then I resized and shrunk it for upload (and added the border). No other PS work has been done.

I await your questions and comments.

Doyle - Okey dokey. If I get some unusual burst of motivation I'll pop this bugger back into PS and spray some Clone Away on that pesky thing.

Is it really a trash can? I don't recall. I suppose there's someone in NY who could check.

Next time I go I'll bring something to put in front of them. A woman in a long trench coat. And nothing else.

Wow James. I see what you did here and heard your response to Larissa . . . but I feel inclined to agree with her. Though not a cup of coffee . . . it seems to be a small container of trash. Whether true or not . . . it's a distraction. I'd clone both out . . . the lack of balance would make the composition much more dynamic (IMO).
Intriguing shot.

Doyle I <~~~~~

There are many layers (figuratively speaking) in this photograph. I like how it's complexity of ideas came together so simply. Infinitisimal representatives of various elements out of the collective unconscious. Thanks for stopping in.

james - what a great shot! i esp love the coffee cup in the trash. it sort of looks to me like she is ruing modern civilization.

Essam - I agree. I was lower than the top of the roof garden's wall so the top of the wall is just a line. As a result, the horizontal division in this photograph is very strong and looks like a perfect splice. It really defines two worlds or a dichotomy. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks, Larissa. If I'm ever back up on the roof of MoMA, and the conditions are fare, I'll shoot another. If that shadow were a little farther left that might be better (and it would help to obscure the vent). Anyway, see you around.

Larissa - Thank you for taking the time to view and comment on my photograph. I really appreciate comments like this.

I don't think that was a cup of coffee. Don't recall what it was, but it was surely something that was supposed to be there.

The ventilation grill and the smaller shelf thing (with the alleged coffee cup) are part of the balance. The building on the right has a tall middle part and two shoulders just like the Rodin. The left buidling has a (tallest) dark region then (moving left) a lower region and a lowest region, which correspond to the dark shadow, the grill, and the shelf thing respectively.

They may not be pretty, per se, but they are necessary.

I hope you still like it.

Yashar - Thanks. What I like about this shot is the way the sculpture and its shadow compliment the two buidlings in the background.
