I saw both version but I prefer this b&w photo.
Perhaps south east asia is colourful, I do not know
however this tonality and b&w range give a special
atmosphere/feeling here which cannot vives the colours.
I bet those kids more happy than Us...very well captured
moment and feeling! Bravooo dear Cessy! 7+++

Kind regards dear!
Robert

the different emotions all from one boat. All the way from a sense of boredom to a sense of adventure.

A tremendous candid portrat of these children, and on a larger scale, of daily life. The depth of field gives excellent isolation of the children and boat from the background. There is a smoothness to the shot that is quite appealing and B&W was a key choice. Great work!

Regards,
Mark

This is a really beautiful B&W picture. It captures the atmosphere of childhood... the dreams and the wonder. Life will be hard for these children, alas. I often find digitally produced B&W somehow unsatisfying (don't know what it is, perhaps just because it's different from film) but this is just perfect.

A capture of high impact where the elements of the subject tell a story, the B&W of excellent choice where the contrast is a star element.
Great work as usual.

Excellent shot Cessy - you're really capturing the atmosphere and culture of this area with your photographs. Both the color version and B&W work for me. I hope to see some more! :)

Superbe capture Cessy. I love the crop, and the expressions of the differents faces, the most I love is the girl one.
The tones are perfect.
This is a beautiful composition.
Congrats

Thanks Cessy! The colour is nice but it would need some more manipulation too. Anyway, the b&w is great :)

Although the colour version is a fine image, I'm glad you've allowed us to view the BW version. Tonality is very good. I find my eyes wandering all over the colour version, but with the black and white version I seem to concentrate immediately on the childrens' faces. I can think of nothing critical to say.
Regards, Gary

A beautiful reportage photo.
Two questions:
1. Did you blur the background in PS? It looks very unnatural.
2. How is the photo in colour? To my experience the colours of south east asia are really wonderful.
