About
A little bit closer to the action. Although the photo looks like a crop of the previous one, it's actually a little further down the track at this point.
Also, I decided to cut the Corkscrew mini series down to 3 images as I feel it's getting a bit repetitive - I'll end it with one final one - a side panning shot at a different part of the track which I feel is one of the better ones I was able to capture.
(Part 3 of 3)
33rd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the infamous Corkscrew. The Corkscrew is turn 8 and 8A on this race track and is a gut-wrenching left to right hander including a 300ft elevation change within a very short distance.
Toyota Motorsports brought their current F1 car (which they are using for their Formula 1 season which is still going on), the TF106 from Cologne, Germany to run a couple of demonstration laps. While doing so, it beat the absolute lap record today by over 1 second.
Motorsport shots don't garner a lot of interest here, but I hope those who are into it, as well as those who aren't can appreciate the shots - definately not an easy task panning cars easily reaching 200+mph. Plus this was my first attempt at panning race cars.
Shot was handheld, manual focus. Comments appreciated!
Hi Toshi, Great detail on this one. As you say of interest to Autosports fans mostly. The reason I say that is because of the way you have cropped the image to make the car the complete star of the image. I used to do this all the time. The cars are the star of the image and that is what you want to see. However, I find that the Auto images that are more interesting to the general public are the ones that can create some excitement in the surroundings as well. Even a little bit of negative space at the front of this car would improve the image (for non car nuts) quite a bit. Ps I understand what you were talking about earlier when you said you wanted to make sure you got clear images of the car, even though you were panning. I hope you did get some with severe motion blur on parts of the car too? Andre
I really appreciate you following through with this mini-series and the constructive comments you have given! I'll be uploading one last action shot of this Formula One car and hopefully it'll top off this shot =) At least, it's my most favorite of all the captures I was able to take.
Yeah! this is the best of the three, I think. Excellent build up. I still think putting the three together in one presentation, you'd also show the consistency within them, not focussing on each of the images as stand alone.
Absolutely nice shot, great close up with gorgeous details and colours. The motion blur is very impressive, excellent composition, nicely done dear my friend!
