Beautiful work Joggie... :)

The detail is superb... in both the larvae and leaf... A magic macro in all aspects...

If I didn't know better, ~~GRIN~~, my imagination would say that this glorious specimen would turn into a *Tiger* moth... Has the colours... :)

Your award for BiP is most definately deserved Sir... Congratulations... :)

Thanks Eb! I have an old (25 years+)Sunpak ringflash and as you might know, in combination with the Panagor macroconverter everything is totally manual. You are right about the focus and almost all of my shots are handheld. The ringflash at the highest magnification ratio allow me to shoot at 1/250 sec and between f11 and f19 depending on the colour of the subjectunder 1/250 sec, camera shake creeps in at those magnifications so theres not much I can do about DoF. I became so used to the above system that anything else feel awkward. Yes I've tested the SBR200 system for a Nikon review article and Nikon South Africa actually requested a second, more in-depth article so I have the system again with four SBR200 units and the D200 body to use. The SBR200 system works very well with several pro's and cons compared to the ringflash - If you send me your e-mail address to jvsfam@telkomsa.net, I can send you the article. Kind regards.

Wonderful detail and pleasing light, Joggie! I like the curious pose with the caterpillar doubling back underneath the leaf! It creates a lot of interest and visual dynamics. I do wonder about your use of the ringflash. The results are outstanding. I know you have tried the Nikon R1 units. How would you compare them to ringflash? I suspect that most of your macros are handheld using back and forth movement to focus - am I right to conclude this?
