About Ironically, as I was up loading these lightning shots to my portfolio, a lightning storm passed through again and I had to shut my computer down.

This shot was taken as the lightning storm passed over the city of Phoenix. Not necessarily impressive but the shear volume of strikes we had that night was astounding.

This will go down as a memorable storm for me. Great experience trying to capture these. Each of the three strikes were separate but very close to each other in timing (seconds). The shutter was open for approximately 30 seconds.

Hello Roby!
I used a tripod (of course) to capture these. I could never have held the camera steady for 30 seconds. My dSLR Fuji S2 only goes to ISO 100. I had taken a few shots at 100 but they were just too dark and noisy (mind you, I was at f/22 for image clarity). I then went up to 200 and it was much better. The S2 does real well at higher ISO settings and (with normal daylight images) I don't usually start seeing noise problems until about 800.
Your lightning shots are pure magic! In fact, your entire portfolio is astounding! You are truly an amazing artist my friend. Such good fortune for me to meet you here. ~ Warm regards, Rocky

hello Rocky
stunning capture.. really good the coppers, that one of right seems “to born” from the blue.. early another lightning can arrive.. also the blue is so clear, the long pose have to held nice.. maybe the use of 400 is so elevated.. have a "bluesky" so clear, in this case the detail remains perfect also on iso 50. when I had tried these capture I used one iso 50 of the fuji.. invertible.. the sky rest so "black".. great catch.. good sunday my friend!

best wishes
:)

Hi Cathy,
Thanks for the comment on this. Glad the info was educational for you.
Yeah, that lightning lasso was unusual, wasn't it? Fun assignement for me and it taught me a lot about night shooting.
~ Warm regards,
Rocky
