About Marlyce and I have decided to started working seriously on the projects to expand our skills and gain new experience. This was my thought for #6, Minimal Depth of field. It was also my first time using a Kenko 68mm extension tube. A great experience. f/6.3 actual setting (Not available in drop down . . . 125mm (Thanks to extension tubes) The cat's name is Narfal. No Narfals were hurt in the shooting of this picture!! :)

Sheila:
I had seen the 26 things on your bio and looked at the website but I'm far too unsure about what it is or what to do. Just, basically, set up a portfolio and shoot them? That's it? I know others do this too . . . perhaps you could send an e-mail to the address in my bio about what I would be expected to do to participate. Thanks for the comment on this shot!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Thanks Dave . . . looking into project ideas I considered what to shoot for minimal DOF project . . . and the cat was just SITTING there . . . and . . . well, you know how it is!

Great focus here Doyle! You've got me double checking the "photographer" box now! :) Amazing details here and a great idea on working on the projects.

Did I ever tell you about www.sh1ft.org/26things/? They do a photographic scavenger hunt that's pretty fun! They have a list of 26 words and you go out and find pictures that are your interpretation of the words. It's a fun little challenge. I did their November list (http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?ID=94099&PF=24202), but I haven't motivated myself to do the May list yet.

Have a great Sunday!

Annemette . . . this is Narfal . . . found elsewhere in my portfolio (a cat). I had never heard of extension tubes either until Stingray advised me he used them for some of his AMAZING macros! I asked . . . he told . . . I ran out to 'play'. Still, I have Sooooooo much to learn!

Dear Doyle
I really like this close-up that made me wonder what kind of animal it was, until I read your description. Is it a hand with a bracelet that is reflected in its eyes?? Extension tube...hm never heard of such one;-)
Best wishes,
Annemette

No worries Riny, my friend . . . I've always understood you well enough. As it happens, your English is far better than my Dutch!! :)
Extension tubes go between the camera and the lens to alter the focal length. Nothing more . . . just hollow tubes . . . though they do carry the signal from the lens to the processor on the camera body too.

Doyle I <~~~~~

Thanks Ray . . . it was your macro work that got me interested in the tubes to begin with. Thanks for sharing as it allows us all to grow in our craft here! The reflection shows my lovely wife's wrist with pink watch and bracelet attached..... she was holding (and distracting) dear Narfal for my benefit!

An excellent macro fitting neatly into the minimal depth of field project Doyle. I love the reflections caught upon the surface of the eye. I too have been experimenting with extension tubes....great fun. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray
