About I borrowed a 50mm prime Nikkor lens from a co-worker to see if I liked it and should buy it. Walking around downtown I started taking some urban abstracts in the style of Todd Miller, Jeanette Hägglund, and maybe a little Kostas Tzanetos.

This was a nice find of a line of meters against the side of a storefront. I like the way there was a rude replacement in the line.

Photoshop - levels, saturation, color balance.

Kind of symbolizes the nonconformist.

Taken at the River Market.

You sure you didn't paint it yourself? ;)

Great shot - prefer it better to the other one you posted below.

Great eye!
Great title! - Reminds me of an e-mail signature I saw some time ago: "There are 10 people in this world. Those that know binary and those that do not"

Anyway, Beautiful colors and textures. I like this original better than your alternate shot (it wasn't bad, just didn't do it for me like the original). Not sure what else you could do to modify. Excellent work. This is going in my Favs.

This is what I am talking about when I say "good eye". Excellent recognition of a good photo op and executed very well. Congrats on the DOD.

This photo really make me chuckle

That's a name I've seen a lot, but I'm not sure I've visited before. This image makes me think I should take a closer look! Excellent vision - superb shot.

Congratulations on your award Micheal! The pattern of meters does work well. Great catch on an otherwise easily missed out subject. I guess this is what you've actually been telling me.

Howdy Michael!

Ya know... I love this! it's *so* my speed. I don't usualy scroll down to see what others had to say, cause i like to comment without input. then....i saw your second image below. Doood... that one rocks! ...but is by no means better or worse than this one. They belong together!

I love the detail in the wall material on this. The crisp blank white add great balance to the weight of the meeters on the bottom. I like the warm glow from behind them as well. Adds to the depth of the image, and anchors it all, so it's not floating in space.

The magic of this shot, is that green. It's such a great contrast to the blue, and having that line cut right across frame adds a brilliant divide, that just hangs the blue perfectly away from the white wall. that make sense?

very nice michael! One of my favorites from you!

more more!

cheers,
-joel

A very well idea and exellent composition study.
i realy enjoyed it. you've created a splendid position from a very smply stuff. bravo!
just maybe warmer color tone ( or warmer light ) higher kelvin could be better emphasized this shot.
anyway, this is my nominate for today's awards and will suggest it!

Jeanette:

Based on your feedback this is being ported to my permanent portfolio. Thanks for letting me know which ones you really like. In my book a good comment from you equals a SC.

Did I choose the right one?
