Thanks, Hugo. Actually, the red is the background reflected in the black plexi-glass and then up into the egg cups. The plexiglass was curved up behind the egg cups and the cardboard added to the top of it. I had no idea how this was actually going to look till it happened. All I did in PS was saturate the colours and sharpen a little. Cheers, Ann.

Hi Ann, Great camera control! The metal of those egg cups is perfectly captured, and I like the gradient in the red background.

Black plexi-glss, heh? It shows in the reflection of the egg cups, but I presume it must've taken quite some time post process this to make it look as good as it does now...:)

Why didn't you use the red cardboard background with a bit of transparent plexig-glass over it? I think that would've made your life a whole lot easier.

Unless, the red in the surface under the cups is actually the reflection of the red cardboard background, in whcih case I think this is really expertly done! Still, it looks as if you retouched the transition between plexiglass and background to create the gradient...

Good shot, and a very nice composition. Creative going!

Cheers,

hugo

Beautiful work Ann, the lighting is wonderful, usually two subjects are hard to compose but you have done this very well. Great work. Don.

Nice abstract, Ann. I especially like the dark region in the center, which lends emphasis to the chrome foreground.

Great shades of red captured here. Each shiny egg-cup and its darker shadow together completes a shape that creates an interesting effect.I also like the way u have used a slightly darker red as bg for the shiny objects and a brighter shade as bg for the darker reflections to heighten contrast.Did u also try a horizontal comp leaving a lot of space around the subjects?

Hi Ann,
Great setup and execution for this picture. Thanks for explaining it I was trying to figure out how you did it. I like the lighting and colours very much however I think they could be a little darker which would make the contrast with the egg cups even greater. I will try to attach a copy of what I mean. Hope you don't mind me using your image. This is a great idea and thanks for sharing it... the plexi-glass is a trick I might use one day.
Regards,
Chris
