Ron: Thanks for the kind comments. The mud on its beak is from poking around in the muddy edges of the swamp for food.

I generally use RAW format and tweak the image as I process it. It usually isn't too far off using AWB in the 1D Mk II. I don't have a 2x TC yet and I didn't try the loaner 2x I got from Canon on my 100-400 so I can't honestly comment on that. I do know that my 1.4x TC actually seems to improve the sharpness and contrast when used on my 100-400. I stacked both a borrowed 2x and my 1.4x on my 500mm and it worked very well both stacked and alone.

I plan on purchasing the Canon 2x TC II some time this summer but until then, I don't know. There are those that claim it just won't work satisfactorily on the 100-400. Not too many have actually tried it.

Great looking bird Fred. I like that long beak and you got good wb which I'm still having trouble with especial in bird shots.
I got a 2.0 TC and I really lost a lot of quality when I used it with my 100x400. Not happy about that. Regards Ron.
