Umm yeah.. not sure about the copper but west of here at Kiandra http://www.walkabout.com.au/locations/NSWKiandra.shtml Still in the Snowy Mtns there was a golrush... all alluvial.. not sure how much they pulled not as rich as the Hill End and Sofala diggings where we pulled the biggest nugget in the world (the Holtermann Nuggett) out.. Yeah Kiandra used to be coldest town in Aust.. no one lives there now ghost town.. but when I was a young lad 24yo I lived nearby in Adaminaby and had to drive out to Kiandra to the DMR (Dept Of Main Roads)to phone wages through and order supplies gravel distillate bitumen etc for the team I worked for as a clerk. We hotmixed the Snowy Mtns Highway from Adaminaby to Tumut so they could run snow ploughs on it.. prior to that the highway would be closed during winter will check on the geology in my book of Snowy Mtns Walks and let ya know
