Thanks, Thilo. I'm wondering--since the panoramas create such an unusual and non-typical impression of the scenes they represent--whether I ought to take a couple of conventional shots facing in two different directions just to show what it "really" looks like... This is just a narrow dead-ended alley behind the station, but it makes a nice panorama!

Hi Roger,
the pano works here very well to show an unknown world to me. I feel like a voyeur =)

Thanks, Craig. When you have as much trouble as I do selecting the viewpoint from which to take a photo, wrap-around panoramas are a great way to get everything in! I often use them to select particular "views" within the scene for future shots with a more conventional camera/lens/technique. And even seen as highly distorted flat prints, they sometimes exert a strange kind of attraction... as perhaps this one does.

Another very impressive panoramic shot Roger. The colours are great and there are busloads of interesting places to examine. I love following the 'conversations' with Hugo and other technical minded people that visit you. Well done to you my friend, always a pleasure to view your trail blazing techniques.. Take care of you..Cheers..Ray

I'm glad you like this one, Hugo. It was a pain to stitch... I'm getting used to the characteristics of the new film I am using (100 ISO rather than my favourite 400 ISO), and like the results I am getting these days. There IS colour aberration (fringeing) which becomes visible at top and bottom, not just corners, because of the tremendous "spread" of the image. Think: the whole top line of the image actually wraps around to a small square in the sky, two or three degrees across, at the zenith! I am thinking of changing my technique to eliminate this hole, which will be fine for VR viewing, but it won't help the highly distorted flat view.

Hi Roger, I like how the combination between the wide angle and the panoramic style creates a sense of wideness, / space. Very cool! Great shot, too, both the scene as well as the way it's captured are very good... Continuing our brief discussion about how well suited a scene is for panoramic photos, I think this would definitely qualify.
Is it me or does this image show just a wee bit of aberation near the corners?
Cheers,
Hugo
