I had to think a very long time for being able to formulate what I find so nice in this picture. Is is the great contrast between the vivid colors of the flower and the black background? Is it the curvatures of the the folding leaf and petal? The curves formed by colored contoures of the plant? Yes, all those things, but something very important is still left out when considering only those things.

I played a little bit with this photo in photoshop, trying different filters just for fun. And then accidentally I used the filter that finds contours. That was it! The simplicity of the main lines that form the captured object is simply amazing!

So this is for me the most important part of this picture. The beauty that is built on the most simple principles.

Giuseppe, congratulations for capturing nature in its simple beauty!

un'immagine di notevole eleganza formale. Nessuna banalità nella ripresa: ottima la luce e lo sfondo che esaltano e potenziano i colori. Molto bella. Complimenti.

A superb floral, Giuseppe. The colors are marvelous and the composition is fine. The only thing you might consider doing is cropping the right side up to where the green begins. Other than that the photo's sheer beauty.
Very well done! And congratulations on a well deserved award.

Thanks for your keen comment. In fact in my first crop I put the flower just in the middle but the composition seemed to me not enough balanced because of the leaf base. But I could place it more to the left.
I visited your home: many interesting pictures (splendid forks) and some beautiful flower taken in a personal way.
Thanks again.
Regards.

great colors and contrast....lines and curves r wonderful...i like the contrast btw the straight stem and the petals curves
i agree with this angle as it serves the name "DRAW" just right..it appears as a painting..and that's also because of the soft lighting and it's angle
may be if it was placed a little bit to the right or just in the center it would have been more nice
well done

beautiful flowers, very nice colors, and lighting
not sure whether it needs a critique :), only slightly more space maybe as it looks a bit tight. otherwise it's very wonderful picture

Beautiful shapes and colours; a proud and elegant composition! The only improvement I can think of is to add a tad (just a tad!) more brightness. Another excellent one, Giuseppe!

I consider an honour your interest in this floral photo because I've seen in your place hundred of beautiful pictures of all subjects but only one flower.
Thanks very much.
May I write in Italian?
Ciao Roland.

Bella, simple but a great shot. Like the contrast of colors heightened by the black background. Well done on the minimal lighting, nice one Rimini, ciao.

Nigel, this is my problem. The downloaded copy is very often less satured and bright of the original. I dont understand why.
Thanks for the useful and kind comment.
Ciao Nigel.

It's true Alejandra. There is a desatured point which it's so also in the living flower (less vivible in the stamp copy).
Thanks for your much appreciated comment.
Cheers or saludos?

I am in perfect agreement with you. The original was larger and till the download moment I have been in doubt if reduce some blackground or not. Probably I took the wrong decision. Thanks for your much appreciated critique.

Gr8 capture,I love the the Black versus other colours vividness. But there should have been more of black space around in width to balance the comosition as currently flower is too straight and gets into eyes or the stem area could have been bit less to avoid straight lines.

A beautiful lily study with lovely light, I really like the way the leaf curls around the flower,

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique I believe it is faithful to what the title says it is: a drawing from nature, but made with a camera! The rather stern, upright position is countered by the gracious shape of the flower, which flower is so elegant! The folds and turns and the colour stand for class! And the word that comes to mind when looking at it is: BEAUTIFUL!

Wow, I wish my flowers would turn out as nice as this. My only critique would be the white spot on the top right of the flower. It may be flare, but other than that the colors and light are fantastic.

Thanks Joggie for your much appreciated critique. In fact all the image is more luminous but its download to Userfilm has darkened and desatured the colours. That happens very often and I don't understand the reason. I agree that more light to the right would make the figure more plastic. As for the composition I took some shoots in diagonal and that surely brought out the flower pattern but I choose to give enphasis to the slender figure pushed even more to the high by the embracing leaf.
Thanks very much again Joggie.
Keep well.

Great colours Guiseppe. Dont know where you get these beauties! The composition and focus is great - I do think the flower and stem is a bit upright, creating a stark could feeling. I would prefer them at an an angle leading from the left lower corner into top right to create a more flowing composition as the form of the flower itself suggests. A bit more light on the right body of the flower would also place more emphasis on its soft flowing lines and help to creat a softer atmosphere which woul echo the soft, velevety feel of the flower. Kind regards.
