No problem Koteiba: The reason for the difference is that the background was taken under different lighting conditions and with different exposure settings. The bird was with the yellow flowers in real life, but using layers in PS, I replaced BG issues which would have detracted significantly from the capture. I was quite close to the bird. I used a blur on the bg to help separate it from my subject in post work (PS). The BG white flowers are Jasmine from my yard.

1500~2000 thought you used more. how about your distance from the subject, and how did you do that two level light thing?the foreground looks more vivid than the background..as if it was put on another picture.sorry for asking alot,but this seems quite hard for me. yet i still didnt attempt wildlife PHTG.

I did not list that information on this shot since a BG defect which would have ruined it led me to replace BG elements with another capture. The result, therefore, is varied-a composite if you will. I have other hummingbird captures and will be posting one or two soon (with complete details) but the shutterspeed is from 1/1500sec to 1/2000sec . . . my 1/1000sec speed has worked and failed both in the past. I set Shutter Priority and Aperture, then, is based on the light metering at the set shutter speed and will, therefore, vary with the light conditions. Hope this was of help.

Considering how fast they flatter their wings, it is more than great! Fantastic capture of a tiny time slice that makes the bird really standing in the air!
Also, a very nice thing is the rich detail of the fore ground that is supported by the blurry background!

Not insulting at all . . . in fact, I did have to remove some distracting background and replace it. Having captured the bird, I was not going to allow background issues to ruin the shot. It is for this reason that I put no information on shutter speed or F-Stop (though I normally do). I wasn't sure how to convey accurate settings when in fact the images were captured at different speeds (obviously)and ISO settings.

Well THANK you! . . . - As it happens, I have four boys, one girl and five grandchildren! Only the "baby" at age 15 still lives at home. To be fair, the oldest two are step-children but never thought of as step kids. Even so, I am a grandfather whether or not there were stepkids in my life.

I love these little fellas. I see lots of them at my son's home, but... so far never when the camera is withing reach! lol You did a great job on this capture, the wings are frozen! Well composed, and exposed. Colors appear to be muted.
