Perfect frame here Dave, you makes a so tight cropping around the window - door and so a very nice composition, plus element the ruinnes and rust tones too...

Ah, you make me envious, Dave! I am not much of a traveller (other than in my mind). I usually shoot "my" ruins and such-like within (a) relatively few miles of where I live. I need to go a-hunting! You inspire me!

I will seek out your image "tired". You know I love your work.

Aniko :)

Thanks Aniko. This is in a small Texas town that was once a thriving mini-metropolis due to the oil boom of the 1920s. The town is filled with scenes like these and I intend one day to spend a lot more time there. The place amazed me with all the abandoned structures and antiquities. It is like time standing still since oil production died.

I talked to one local while takingpictures there and he said that Electra was once one of the richest towns in Texas, with money flowing through the streets like oil. And all of the ancient, abandoned yet majestic buildings, blocks after blocks after blocks of them, proved his point.

This is an old Chevroelt dealership and the photo appealed to me because of that. Hard to imagine a time when a dealership had two or three cars to sell and one bay to work on them. Unlike today's megaplex car dealers.

I have another similar photo in my portfolio, titled "tired".

There you go - I get juiced up over these abstractions.

I approach them as Mondrian works - work out the light and dark areas with color, and try to balance the composition as if it was a cubist work.

This really works.

Great architectural capture here - there are a few usefilmers who seem to get these kind of graphical grid compositions just right. Todd Miller is one, but his shots are really urban.

I've always wanted to see what a rural feel would look like and I'm glad you posted this - I just tried one as well and I'll post it today.

NICE!! Very nice capture!

Great colors and the very aged doors and building.
Good job on this one,

Lori :)
