About ....spiders webs are like sunsets, sunrises, the cat, the kids and the budgie...to a person with a camera, you just gotta take 'em, the paddock outside the house is like a huge website in the morning, so, ah well, why not.....take a picture!!

Hi David,
This is a masterpiece. I know too well how difficult it is to capture spider webs (tried myself many tines without success).
Light and contrasts are awesome and you chose the right angle here.
I also believe that the "mysterious" atmosphere created by the B&W tones wouldn't have come out in the same way if you had chosen the coloured version.
Excellent work!
Thanks for your visit which allowed me to discover your great portfolio...keep it going!
Regards,
Mireille

smashing shot, I love spiders web, they really are a work of art. I think the only thing missing is the artist.
Still, what a beautifull web and well captured
Regards
Keith

Hugo, great comments, thank you, I did try the closer crop then opted for the 'clutter' but you may be right...it does distract a little, in real life they are usually a complete shambles!! cheers, david.

Dwight, it was early morning and the sun rise to the left of the shot helped a fair bit plus very high s/speed, more than a 5000th I think, mad isn't it! cheers, david.

Dave, thank you for your comment, these do look spectacular, 'en masse' in the long wet grass these autumn mornings. cheers, david.

Great shot, David. I have one similar that I was just getting ready to post, I wish I had composed mine as carefully as you. I'm finding the blurred branch in the foreground slightly distracting, although others may like it. If it were mine, I'd try some creative cropping and/or airbrushing to try to remove the bulk of it. Again, great job.

Hi David, Very well captured, and a great use of light, angle and dark background, making the dew on the www come out perfectly.

As to the composition, I think the whole scene is a bit more cluttered than absolutely necessary. Showing the overview does, IMO, provide more information than is absolutely necessary.

If you'd zoomed in a bit more, consising the view to only the web, I believe the image would've created the same feel, yet show even more details and that would really make it tick!

I like your description in the about, and I quite agree, yet the difference with this shots and sunsunsets, sunrises, cats kids and all other cute things, is spider webs usually aren't cute, and that they don't have the morning due on them....:)

Cheers,

Hugo

David, very nice image with good contrast and a wonderful subject. You choose a perfect angle to capture this and the lighting on the dew really brings out the web. I've tried a few of this type shots here and can never get the right angle or lighting, so I know the challenge. The b/w adds to the suspense of this image. Great job! Regards, Dwight
