About Along with all the rain we've had in Western Washington (28 days straight now...) we've been unseasonably warm. Everything is starting to bloom. And it's only January!
This is a blossom on a star magnolia bush. I know it looks like a pussywillow, but it's not.

Many many congratulations on being donor of the day (sometime back, I know)! In this shot the criss-cross pattern created when the background and foreground interact is very good. Detail and softness on the blossom are perfect. Well done!

I wouldn't have known that this is supposed to be a future magnolia (a flower I love so much!!!) and I would have gone with the pussywillow! A great thing that you gave us an explanation!I love the background! And you made me wonder about our magnolias here, so I'm going to have a closer look!
Best regards,
Gabriela

Thanks so much Ann. I know what you mean, I love to see one of my friend's images on the front page too.
I told Kathy I was tempted to rename the image Natures Paintbrush, and would have if I didn't have the title on the photo. I knew there was some reason I shouldn't put text on there. Grrrhh!
Anyway, I appreciate your support. Thanks for the kind words!

Susie,
Another couple of weeks of the weather we are getting here and we will be getting that kind of growth too. Unfortunately the temperature has gone back to normal for us in the last couple of days. -14C out this morning, so that put an end to our early spring.

Looks like selective hearing is out the window at your house. Looks like a natural Q-Tip. No excuse now not to have clean ears. This bush sure puts out fuzzy buds. Nice clear picture with loads of detail. The twigs in the background makes for an natural back drop. Great framing.

Hi Susie,
I Posted a comment earlier, but UF sent an "oops" message because I use the same word as you -----willow, which their/UF checking on. Fyi -I used that word in proper context, by stating that I thought it was..what it appeared to be to me etc.. - Anyway I truly like your spring blossom on the star magnolia bush. you had a good eye to find such and it is a great photo.

Well paint me a spring scene Susie this looks nature's paint brush to me. :) Even with all the rain we've had here in Oregon too I'm also seeing some early blooms. A beautiful capture of this one and lovely lighting on it too. Very nice Susie and well seen.

Thanks for your comment on my Pom Pom Trees. Someone told me they were actually called that but they probably have a long botanical name. thanks for dropping by.

Cheers - Ann :)
