lovely moody shot ...i think the green-gray cast suits the image well since i think of the ocean as being green and/or blue...Don's corrected color balance is good,too...nicely composed with the slightly curving pier fading into the fog and the faint silhouettes of the people...regards,gayle

Stop taking pictures of MY pier. ;-)

We have to get together man. Email me so we can plan something. You can take a look at the d200 and I can spit on your leica. ;-)

As for this, it's funny, but I took a shot that seems to be EXACTLY the same during the fog and waves... :-)

You captured the atmosphere very nicely... we don't often get fogs in my part of the world, unlike the UK before I left! I remember it was quite hard to judge the exposure and wonder if digital cameras do much better these days? (Thanks for recent comments, John.)

Hi John, Here is what I had in mind. Here is what I have done. Levels, white eyedropper on top of sky, then took the left slider and moved it to the right. The used a gray gradient on the sky. Don.

Thanks for tip Don. I had not heard that before. I tried it and have mixed emotions. I did not perceive the sky as bright white. Using the tool I got some pink color casts that seem wrong. To the extent that the image is blue/green that is the sea color being picked up by the clouds and thats okay by me. Thanks anyways for bringing that tool to my attention.

The fog is very nice for pictures. I have always liked to take fog pictures but a lot of the time the fog appears dirty. I have found with digital you can go to levels and click the white balance eye dropper and click on the sky and you have clean fog.
Maybe you won't like it. Take care. Don.

The fog really sets the mood in this photo.

Even with the fog it's still a beautiful day at the beach.
