Tremendous shot my friend,
The sharpness and details are superb.
I like the full extension of its wings showing all the intimacy of its feathers.
I have seen a couple of these guys in the Oka pond, and keep hoping to get them in flight without any luck so far.
Congratulations and thank you for posting this master piece.
The only thing missing is the award.

really good the "strange" pose of flight, very good capture and composition; have the perfect lines horizontal..with the wings down!
sure the friend they lack, are so dramatic, many big photographers one big empty space! ..just a perfect tribute..

Marcus, I am honoured to be included in this list of great photographers even the though the list is compiled for not the best of reasons.
This shot is truly remarkable and cotains all of the usual detail and clarity that has become your hallmark.
I know of a place in the UK where Peregrine Falcons are quite common and can really only be seen in flight. I've gotta get back there soon with my current equipment.

Hi Marcus,
A beautiful shot of this green heron! We have these here in the summer too. It's really nice the way the details of the wings show up when the wings are down. That's why the "patterns in nature" I suppose.
It's sad to see so many people leaving. Any particular reason? Or all different?
I don't understand why people just suddenly quit here. After-all, it costs nothing to go away for a while and come back for the occasional visit and post. Maybe just leave your personal top twenty posts up. No one says we all have to be active every day here.
