Hi Sergio! thank you for your kind compliments!! Stitching is just combining multiple images into one big panoramic, I need lots of practice...but very exciting that this first attempt was so well liked :) Great to hear from you, thanks again!

Very beautiful night shot, Peta.
I have no idea about what stitching is, but I really like the effect.

Cool portfolio, congrats on the BIP?s

Just looking at your portfolio here at work (I'm lazy as you were yesterday). Decided to search for the point between your 4 shoots. Find it hehe. Great Pic! Peta!

It is very nice and moody picture, with wonderful colors, and almost perfect compo. At least for me.
For some reason my eyes keep looking at the left side of the picture. I know that taking picture from a bridge gives very limited viewpoints, but I think
that the rail on the left side is little bit annoying. Except of this, your photo is magical.

Regards!
Istvan

Carsten Ranke   {K:14476} 8/27/2005
Wow, not an easy job the stitch of four wide angle shots. Good thing is that you had a tripod (right ?), there is no unnatural looking distortion, and colors are superb. Ok I see the transition zones in the sky area, but thats barely visible. PS CS is not the best option for stitching, IMO. You could try out Canons PhotoStitch, not bad, but for 16bit TIF I use Panotools, in a graphic user interface called PTGui. Take care, making panoramics can be addictive ;-) I bought my EF-S 10-22 zoom for a really wide FOV, to save the hours I spent with my 17-40 zoom pics, stitched them to get wider perspective, but now... I stitch the 10-22 shots ;-)
Regards
Carsten

Hi Peta, fantastic night view, with the bright and saturated colours. The stitching is fine, too, but I think I would've tried to leave the rail in the lower left corner out, as it creates a minor distraction / unbalance in the composition. The clarity and details are amazing. Very well done.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Petal, thank you...I have learnt so much through this little project, I will definately take more care shooting next time knowing how much easier it will make it in PS!! Hope you make it to Melbourne soon, its the best city!!

that how you have to look at it too, a journey with ups and downs, hint put you originals onto disk and put them away, don't save over the top of your work as if you stuff it you'll have a hell of a time getting it back. are you learning PS CS or CS2

Neil its so great to have your input, thank you!! I was really hesitant to post this knowing I was far from getting it right...but I am here to learn and I really wanted everyones tips on this. You're right, I shot this on AP which was the first boo boo, then I didnt take enough shots to overlap them well. I will take alot more care on location next time! Thanks for the encouragement Neil :)

You.... needing tips.... well I know I'm up here and you're Down Under.... but this is setting the whole world upside down for me..... ;-D!!! This is a great panorama of a city I really need to visit sometime soon....!!! The colors are amazing and so is the view, wonderful reflections.... well done!!! Yes the stitches are still visible esp. the one in the middle... the one on the left is much 'brighter' or the one on the right is a bit dull but (counting from left to right) the stitch between 3 and 4 is barely visible... it looks to me that number 2 is the odd one out (too vibrant, which is beautiful but in this case not good....;-D), so that's the only nitpick I can come up with..... to avoid this use the same exposure for all your shots or take a few more so that they'll blend better.... just a thought....

effort i'll give you 7 girl, i to can see at least two of the joins. over all great shot girl, Neil has some valid points to listen too. all i can say is play with this shot in class if they are worth anything they should be able to show you how to change the cast so that all shots look alike.
wacom digital tablet best thing you can buy for photo work specially stitching

Neil Dolman   {K:26883} 8/15/2005
Hi Peta, well it's a good first attempt BUT i can see the stitches (all four of them :() It seems to me you have not used the same exposure for all four images. This is really important. Measure the scene and then choose a middle exposure that will best cope with everything. Set the camera to manual and then take the series, of course using a tripod and concentrating on your horizon etc. I use a spirit level to make sure that it is all straight. When stitching try and use a layer mask so you can make the join gently blend into the other one. This is what makes it noticeable here as your second from left image is much better exposed than the other three and the line (if you look carefully is quite distinct, but i'm sure you knew that. Please don't get me wrong and i don't want to take any praise away from this excellent effort. Keep up your good work and most of all have fun. I too am a big fan of the panoramic format and have done several myself. We talked about Ken Duncan and Peter Lik, they are both masters of this :) You have some great advocates in your country to help you. Take care
Neil

actually Paul, dont tell anyone but the full size exposes me as big time learner. I made it hard for myself since the far left was a different focal length and overall using a wide angle lens is not so smart as it causes so much distortion that I struggled to correct. (Yes, I did this in PS)

Jan Graziano   {K:17920} 8/15/2005
Oh my - what a great night shot - stitched? You are joking right? I should be able to sew as seamlessly as that! CONGRATS on the BIP - very well deserved - this has it all - composition, sharp and glorious colors, reflections, et al. Well done. So, are you in Rob in a race? Jan
