Hi Lily,
I like your crop. Its a good idea and it focuses the image more on the portrait. Thanks for the good advice

Rgds,
Luis

I cloned out the right shoulder to give it some room on the bottom. Don't know if it helps.

Thanks Judi for your tips. Indeed some space under the chin would improve the image. Unfortunately I took the photo with a tripod and could not check before taking the photo. There is no more image under the chin so the only thing I can do is reduce the frame. Ill try that out. Regarding your other idea (cropping the image left of the face) I will try that out. It seems interesting.

Thanks and till your next image!

Good self portrait. I am flattered that you feel that I give you some inspiration. With this particular image, I like the tonings and the expression. The light in the corner really gives the image some oomph!! There is a couple of things that could be done to really make it jump though. Either crop right in on part of the face or zoom it out a bit to add more space beneath the chin.

Thankyou so much for your kind words my friend.

I like the half illuminated technique

the formula is known- partially covered light source, gradation of greys on the wall, half face illuminated; well you are using it pretty well and magically you are producing a strong portrait that I like very much
