About This is where the icecore in Greenland almost ends as a melting glacier. Will these massive areas of beauty be gone in the future due to the global heating? Will we wittness the polarbears slowly die because they canīt hunt from the oceanice? I wish everybody had the chance to go to the Arctic areas, experience this rare biosphere and go home and think more about what is being consumed daily, saving electricity, heat and so forth.

THank you, Tim! Iīll try to read some info about the D80 and D70 and also the D40.
-45 degrees...brrrrrrrr I know that the cold appears less freezing in dry air, but still cold;-)
Thanks again for your info.
Take care
Annemette

Hi Annemette,

So far i have been very happy with the D80 it has performed well since purchasing it in October. If you manage that, i think it will give you many years of good service. I also just bought a D70S for my girlfriend and it is also a great camera for a little less money. That might be hard to find now as Nikon is fazing that model out. I shot 140,000 photos with my old D70 until it wore out in -45C degree weather here in northern Canada. It was a great camera to the end. but to expensive to fix. As a new one would be not much more dollar wise.
I wish you all the luck in manifesting a better camera.
Cheers, Tim

Thank you very much for the info, Tim. I think that with these prizes for a camera then itīs necessary for me to get the right one! I see you have a Nikon D80. Is it much better than a D40?
Thanks for helping me out a bit.
Best wishes
Annemette
Ps. And congratulation on the award:-)

Hi Annemette,

Well if you are short on $ then you might want to look up the Nikon D40. With this camera you get a lens and can buy other lens to fit when you can afford it. I am not sure what it is worth there, but here in Canada it goes for around $719.00....yeah it is a lot of money. Well if at some time you can manage it you do have a good eye.
Cheers, Tim

Thank you very much for your comment, Tim:-)Itīs indeed wonderful to be in such places where mankind hasnīt got the last saying in everything.
As about my photos Iīm only honoured that you feel this way. Thank you. I am indeed craving for a digital SRL because there are so many photos that I would like to take, so much Iīd like to experiment with. Still a used digital canon SRL cost from about 1000 dollars without any extra lenses or such, so itīs rather expensive.
What kind of digital SRL would you recommend if I may ask?:-)
Best wishes
Annemette

Yes this weighs heavy on my mind and I am planning on heading to Greenland as well as Iceland in the near future mostly because i enjoy experiencing areas that have as little effect by humans as possible.
As i peruse your portfolio i see that you have many great compositions and that you have a good eye for images. But i think your camera is holding back your full potential. I know that not everybody can afford get the current level of digital SLR's but i think from what i see with you, that you would be very inspired....well....even more inspired with a good camera and lens.
I hope this does not offend you, but that is my honest impression.
Cheers, Tim

Yes, it seems like most people donīt care as long as it doesnīt effect them personally. A pity if empathy doesnīt reach further than to oneīs family and wallet...
Thank you very much for commenting.
Best wishes

a very thought provoking photo. Unfortunately, as for your wish, most people just don't care. They prefer to bash those who try and explain, coming up with every excuse in the book.

Best wishes,
Dave
