  Q. HP 4370 Scanner - Soft Focus
Aurobindo Saha
Asked by Aurobindo Saha    (K=2396) on 1/10/2006
I got a new HP 4370 Scanner. I am scanning 35mm slides using the TMA with default settings - 200 dpi in JPEG format.

The images came file but its not in sharp focus. For example the grass and rock texture are not very sharp or I should not as sharp as when I use a projector to view that on screen.

Do any of you have any idea why its so?

I have been using an HP 4890 for quite a while so I would say that you need to customize your setting. the factory setting is at 200 dpi. I scan 35mm & 4x5 using 600% resize @ 300 dpi. I save as a tiff, then work with jpeg. Once you get a good scan (tiff) you can always reduce format to print size without quality suffering.
