  Q. Importance of copyright/watermarking images
Brigitte R.
Asked by Brigitte R.   Donor  (K=25989) on 8/5/2012
Hi all, I've been away for quite a long while... but now I'm back and it seems that things have really slowed down quite a bit around here, or is everyone just on vacation?

Now for the real question... I haven't been watermarking my images since I am not making a business out of it, but recently several people have asked me to do so because they didn't want to see someone else get credit for my images later down the road. Do you feel it's important? Also, there are some sites where I post where I do not wish to use my real name (I'm somewhat protective of my online identity) and would like to use an alias or fictitious name and again, because I'm not pursuing my photography professionally (at this time anyways), I don't want to go through the fuss of registering this fictitious name. Do you see any problems arising with this method? I mean, we all know that original work (writing or photos) published is automatically protected by copyright laws... I'm just thinking perhaps for the folks that don't know about this, it would deter them from copying and using it. Curious what your opinions are. Thank you :-)
