Q. Photo of the Day, Editor's Choice, etc.

I have to ask this again, as it's just happened again today: why do certain photos keep recurring as Photo of the Day, Editor's Choice, etc. or just simply move from one category to the other? Don't get me wrong, I'm not desperate to be on the front page, I just think it's a bit unfair on the others who never get picked.
