About Taken through the truck window. Now here is one to add to the list of "Yeah, right" excuses for being late. This slow moving house was hogging both lanes on a country road. There was no way to pass. The distance to the next cross road that we knew we could take seemed far away. So, we just had to be patient.

Hi Roger. Well, your comment made me smile. In all my 33 years teaching, no one actually used that excuse. It obviously does happen occassionaly. ;-)

Dear Mary, I believe you, thousands wouldn't. Perhaps that's because I am the father of a girl whose highschool assignment WAS eaten by the dog. Really!

Thanks so much, Hanggan. I'm glad you like this. It sure was unusual to be slowed down by a house taking up the road.

Hi Mary Brown , Thank you for your constructive comments. You have an impressive portfolio. This shot of the house on wheels is so different to the norm. I wonder if the family were having lunch while being transported . Joey

I knw the feeling, dear Mary. Sometimes it is "My friend's" truck that obstucts the road, but fortunately I don't have to be punctual most of the time. I do still lecture and go to others' lectures and I hate to be late, even to the movies, so as mentioned, I unddertand the feeling you conveyed so well in your photo.
Thank you for your kind, a little teasing (but I like that) comments on my "Portrait of a friend" and my "Friend at work 1 and 2."
Best regards,
Rafi

Mary: Wow, I want a motorhome like that one. No more crowding and trying to use just one bathroom.

Do you think that just perhaps they mis-heard the phrase 'mobile phone' and then took it to extremes? Excellent humor shot... had a great laugh when I saw it!

Chad Parish Chad Parish   {K:6440} 6/4/2005
Wouldn't it be fun to run out of the house and start shouting to the cars behind, "Get out of my backyard!"

If a cop pulls you over and asks where you live you can say right here.

Fun shot and good example of seizing the moment.

Pretty sharp, considering it was taken through a truck window. I'm impressed with your ability to compose in this situation as well. Maybe you should move up to photographing races for NASCAR!!!

Good point, Angelo. That would have been quite a scene if there was a house coming the other way also.! That would have been worth getting out and taking a few pictures. Goodnes knows we'd have been there for a while. As for oncoming traffic, there was a police car ahead stopping people and getting them to pull into laneways so the house could pass.

And what if someone dared to come the other way?

And what if THEY were also carrying a house!?

Wow. I've never seen the phrase "moving house" taken so literally. It couldn't happen here (our country roads are too narrow!). And talking of "Yeah, right" excuses, our dog really DID eat my daughter's homework.
