Dear Anne,
well captured and well deserved BIP.
the image has a lot of tension with the relatively bold contrast, the strong DOF, the wall where the upper end is shown... the Y and finally the boy looking at the viewer. very balanced composing. perhaps a tad too bold in the middle.
anyway, great work!

Beautiful photo, dear Anne. A lovely expression on the boy's face, combined with a curious writing on the wooden board.
Good application of Gaussian blur, even if it is a bit on the obvious side --- it needs to get gradually stronger as it gets to the background.

i love this shot. the "y" is exactly the expression on the young boy's face. my only problem is that you softened the background to close to his plane so that it looks like his foot is floating in nothingness. I'd like to see him connected to the ground.
