About OK...I admit it, I stole the title from a movie.
But it 'fit'!

Hmmm, Orchid! Beautiful! Well, I'm kinda agree with Pete, a little more DOF will be nice, but I know how hard it is to do the Macro things!! To me, this is wonderful. Lovely velvetish collar (how about 'Purple Velvet'? It's like another movie too... ;-) ) and sharp center, and yes, you're right, 400 ISO is a bit grainy, but it's still wonderful. Good work Lori!

Hi Pete,

Right, I thought I had my camera set differently, I was surprised to check the info in PS when I started working on this. Several things wrong; in addition to the settings, for some reason I had the ASA set to 400!!! I always shoot at ISO 50 for these flowers. And I was really going crazy seeing all the pixels, if this were film, it would have been a really low density neg., very 'thin'!!

I always use a tripod for macros on the G2, it doesn't auto focus well, so I have to do it manually. Would you believe you have to use two hands to manually focus? It's a real pain in the neck.

So part of the softness was due to shallow DOF due to the setting, and in addition to that I purposely 'lens blurred' most of the image in PS to kind of create the illusion of a sharper center. And that's why I decided to do a large frame, the smaller one looks at this image the better! LOL
Lori :)

H Lori, an attractive image. Onl problem I see is that it is a bit soft and the depth of field a little shallow. I see you used F2.8, F8 or so would have been better and given a little more depth of field. You would also need to use a tripod if you stopped down to F8 which would help keep the image sharp.

Regards,

Pete
