Nice contrast between the new photographic era and the past.

Good concept and well shot. I agree with Hugo's comments, a rule of thirds crop would add a bit of dynamics to the shot.
More white would make it pop a bit but would lose a sense of depth.
Nothing severe where I would reshoot though, and congratulations on the award.

Awesome idea! I myself still use both, but mostly digital. It's easier for me to learn on digial because it doesn't cost me anything when I make a mistake.

Thanks greatly for your reply. The crop is a bit disturbing to myself as well. I shot this to submit to a local contest so it had to be a full frame composition straight from the camera with minor color adjustments. I'll find out about december how I did, but until then I'm glad to see everyone likes the idea. Thanks for your rework, I must say its impressive work, my PS skills are still lacking enough that I can't every seem to cut quite that well :).

Very creative shot, Jeremy. Personally, I would crop something off the right side of the image, to balance the composition, and I think an all white background (with shadow, though) would make the shot a tad stronger, as I find the near white tone of surface and background a bit distracting with the white page. Attached a slightly tweaked version.
Excellent and very creative idea, though. Abotu the message, I sincerely hope not that Digital media is replacing film (entirely), as I use both, too.
Cheers,
Hugo

Personally I shoot with both. I usually use film for my B&W as you can't touch (or retouch) a color shot to match a true B&W shot (yet). Glad you liked the shot, and thanks for the time to write something up.
