About The stream that runs past the farmer's gate wells up only a few yards away. People come from miles away to collect its waters, which are delicious and reported to have healing properties. He washes his vegetables in it and displays them on the planks that bridge the stream. The lighting is always difficult--this is one of many attempts I've made over the months/years.

Interesting story and a good shot in the circumstances, Roger. I sympathise with the difficult light conditions ~ i had a few of those this past weekend!!
Kind regards, Chris

Thanks for the suggestion, Michael. I do have several photos taken at this spot, enough to make a triptych, certainly. One of them even has the vegetables being washed in the stream... I've been walking the dog this route for two years now, so most things that CAN be photographed HAVE been!

I don't have PS, only PaintShop Pro. I use the histogram function to set black and white levels and play with the gamma, also a little local dodging and burning. I'm not a great image manipulator... I'd rather spend the time looking out for a better image than sitting in front of the computer. {grin} Do enough of that all day long...

I can understand your attraction to this scene. Have you tried any close-ups on the soaking produce? I'd like to see you try one of your triptychs from this location.

I am sure it has been tough to get the right exposure in fore and background. It turned out rather well. Did you use modern tricks like working with layers or the feature Shadow/light in PS? No he, I presume. In the old days in my dark room when I printed I could manually distribute the exposure time and place. I can't do that on the computer.
