About
These are the boiling thermal mud pots found in Lasson Volcanic National Park. There are several inactive volcanoes in this region. The Lassen volcano last erupted in May of 1915. These thermal mud pots are a result of the release of heat and gas from molten rock deep down in the ground. There is a strong smell of sulphor in the air and a yellow staining of the ground around the gas vent holes.
