I've had the pleasure of knowing Russ for several years now and have seen a lot of his work. He is among the "Best" photographers in the world, yes he is that good. The leaves were dark green and yellow. The oak leaves were dark brown. Everything was wet and it was late in the day. It was not interesting in color, but I thought it had great potential as a black and white. I spent a lot of time on it later on the computer.

This image won the Gold Award in Black and White Magazine's Single Image Contest in 2008. It was part of a First Place winning five image submission to the International Photography Awards (The Lucies) in 2008. In 2009, the same submission won First Place in the entire Nature category of (PX3) the Prix de la Photographie, Paris, and was displayed in the winners exhibition there.
