About	This is a real trip back to yesteryear. I found a very old exposed roll of Ektachrome-X (24 exp.) wrapped up in a mass of packing and jammed into an old wood box. I had no idea if it was any good, or even what was captured on it. So I figured what the heck and got it processed at Walgreens. They sent it out and a week later I had some of the most amazing images. They were half frame sized (18 x 24 mm). From looking at the subjects, I figure they were made in the late 60's when I was on a ship making a trip through the South and Central Pacific. I think was probably shot in either Samoa or Fiji. At that time I had my trusty Olympus Pen all manual camera. I did not think that film would last this long without being processed. No PS used except for image sizing.

What an image! Before I say anything else, George, how did you do that? I read that there has been no PS for this, and I do believe you, but what was it then? The lens is no soft focus, or is it? Or perhaps just because of the "wrapped up in a mass of packing and jammed into an old wood box"?? If so, then I must start wrapping up and jamming some of my still unprocessed films!

Anyway, you made such a compliment by that "soft focus" as well as by lighting and persective to that finest lady! She really shines, damn it! The unreal lighting lets her look just as if coming from the past, telling us about the miles and miles and miles that she sailed. Unfortunately they don't make many of this kind anymore, and I find them very maritime, naval. Must be my personal impression for the biggest part of it, since I had the good luck to spend some months on such a good soul. Scaplake was her name.

The rusty tones have a great contrast against the blue hues where such a girl belongs to. One can really smell the corroding salt that brings such a color onto steel. From the composition point of view, I wouldn't change much. Perhaps turning the camera a bit more to the right for having that fine lady like looking toward the sea at the right?

A stunning image indeed, but also one that shows that there are many kinds of perfection and sometimes a controlled kind of imperfection simply catches thing more "sincerely". This is what I think about this.
