hi and thanks for explaining...the only thing i can recall that comes close to what you describe is what is called "tether ball" here in the US...there is a taller pole and rope is attached to a ball close in size to a volleyball...best played by 2,tho' one can play alone...once hit,it swings toward other person who may or may not be able to hit it to return toward other person as it spirals around the pole...only hands are used...perhaps our game is a version based on yours which may be older in origin...

This is a more a kids toy, but whole family can have fun (had to say that because I do)... You may know it as another name because there are several different versions...
Consists of a pole of approx 6 ft in height, on a stand, the top end you see here... The spiral has a strong string attached with the other end attached to a tennis ball...
Two short handled bats/paddles, similar in size to raquet ball raquet... Can be played by one or two players... You stand opposite each other and hit the ball... It is free wheeling, in that the string can run around the spiral either way depending whether forward or backhand...
It is actually great exercise, good for the reflexes and lots of laughs...:)))

i was an avid tennis player back in the day,but i have not a clue as to what this object is...LOL...
very well seen and executed...like the perspective,dof and think it is the perfect choice for B/W so that the focus is on the forms and tonal values...
