LOL...So.... what was the question? Well, I love the answer! Very PC... I do think that I like the softer conversion to black and white for these shots (as opposed to the "overlay" that I played with).

I can see now that I should save the bolder more dramatic conversions to subjects other than kids.

Thanks for the help!
:)Sheila

Hi Sheila!
Uhhhhhhh . . . . ok, I've, uhhhh . . . well . . . I've thought about this now for almost two complete months . . . LoL! So here's an answer. I have looked at all three versions and I think they all have merit. Really . . . all you've proven is that a cute child captured nicely can work in almost any composition. Who knew? You've seen all three . . . Tell me I'm wrong and they don't all work and work well! :)
So, in a politically correct stance - I like 'em all!

Regards,
Doyle I<~~~~~

I love it Sheila...centered comp works for me! The softness of her hair, the light, the darkness all around, the eye focus, the conversion, all add up to a great candid portrait.

I'm with you, and Doyle, and Ray...sign it, date it, frame it, crop it, color her hair purple, turn it upsidedown if you want...it's your work...so....*raspberries*

Take care...Robin

I still don't know how to frame and I'm clueless as to how you write on a photograph....well done you Sheila. Just you do as YOU please...It's called PRESENTATION Andrzej.

Again a lovely moment caught of this oh so sweet little girl my sweet big girl. . I love the perspective of this shot as she gazes up at you wondering when you are going to give her swing a push . Beautiful touches of side and back lighting illuminating the whispy blonde hair. Well done again my lovely friend. Take care of you, 'see' you again soon. My very best wishes always and a big hug.....Ray;)

I'm so glad that you commented on what Andrzej said because, frankly, I didn't know what to think of his comment! Who cares why I want to put my name on it? It's my photo and I can put my name across the whole thing if I want! And you know what? I AM Soooo vein that I want to put my name on it...(did I mention that it's not really a good idea to make a red-haired, German/Tauras girl angry?)... :) You know I'm kidding, right? I'm not really angry about the comment, it's just fun to rant about something so silly. But the fact does remain that it is my photo and that I AM proud to put my name on it and it really shouldn't matter why. It's a silly thing for someone to care about, really.

And on to the crop...who do you think you are- I'm TOTALLY kidding... I was going back and forth on the crop. I wasn't thinkin of a off-centered crop though, I was actually thinking about a squared image...Andrzej should like this one since my name is gone. :) What do you think?

P.S. I've always wondered how people got their name below the photo like that. I'm going to have to go and see if I can figure that one out. Thanks for the tip!

Sweetness Squared

Doyle D. Chastain Doyle D. Chastain   {K:101119} 12/7/2006
Hi Sheila . . . my good friend!

Andrzej has started what became a BIG issue with comments (mostly e-mailed) I received for a time. "Are you Sooooo vain you need your name on your work?" "You think people want to steal YOUR work? That why you put your name on it?" Etc. Etc. Et-Freakin'-Cetera!!! :)

On the plus side . . . the comments seem to appear on the quality work........ Intially I was shocked . . . like you . . . it was more about being proud to call the work MINE that it was about vanity. And, frankly, they can kiss my furry Irish *$*^%#!!! (I know. . . . not furry and hasn't been Irish since before the 1700s . . . . but the point stands)! I take pride in my work and will continue to label it as mine . . .

In PS 4 Elements . . . I have found that increasing the canvas size and changing the expanded canvas color from white to an off-white -- RGB color 243, 243, 243 . . . #f3f3f3 you can match the UF BG color and sign OFF image - - - IF you desire to! But . . . just because Andrzej would laugh while people steal his images (his words, not mine) - - - the fact is . . . it is not theft that causes me to sign my work. It happens to be pride. Perhaps I'm naive . . . but even signed digital work can be stolen pretty easily. I'm almost 100% certain I could take your images, for example . . . and change YOUR name to mine! So maybe . . . JUST MAYBE . . . it's NOT about preventing theft . . . and IS about being proud of your work!

And Sheila . . . you have work to be VERY proud of. (Just not THIS image). Heheheheee . . . just kidding. It's a great but (IMO) static image which could be dramatically improved if cropped better. You know - Central and static versus off-center and dynamic. Otherwise . . . I think the shot COMPLETELY rocks! :) _____Also . . . I'm liking the new framing.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Off-Center?

Sheila, it's truly great shot, gorgeous lighting and impressive tones. You may however try to strengthen your composition next time, something you were handled well in many of your previous jobs. My comments is just a call for the sweetest of the sweet in this wonderful picture but it's your call as you are an artist.
Cheers, NJ

P.S I'm not really to merge the picture with the frames of the same tonality - those are damaging your initial composition and on top of that I'm still not that sure why you really want to have your name on the jobs presented here? I would laugh loudly and be happy if somebody still my 800/600 jobs from here for a good internet use it doesn't stop me from keeping rights to the job. Hey, what do you think?
