Thanks Jim,

George, I've found it: it's the Grumman F8F Bearcat. First flight Aug 21, 1944, with a Pratt & Whitney 2100hp engine, and 4 20mm cannons. Nice!

Uhm, that doesn't look like any Corsair I've seen before. I went searching around, and it almost looks like an F6F Hellcat, except for the canopy design. The F6F and F4U seemed to have shared a similar canopy, where the fuselage is raised up above the pilots head.

Sorry about the confusion Jim. Here is the picture that should have been included with the May 27 message.

F4uU Corsair

Hi Jim,

I had uploaded (or thought I uploaded) a picture with my previous comment. I had reached my limit for a 24 hour period. I will post the Corsair pix as soon as I am able.

The pic I replied to George is of a B-17, as you say in the caption. I'll agree with that, only because I don't recall what the nose of a B-17 looks like.

Hi Jim,

If I am not mistaken, this is a picture of an F4U Corsair. It was not on static display at the show. This is as close as I got to it - and it was moving pretty quick.

Nice little plane! Before I die, I want to see a Corsair close up, and this picture just makes me wish harder for it. Great shooting!
