Great picture. I like the ghostly sense it has (specially the blurred parts).

Anne,
Thank you for your comment to my comment. In my opinion, the ability to enjoy the good, but acknowledge the bad is perhaps the origin of the strength behind "surviving".

well... this isn't easy. i am on my cell phone looking at some of my friends pictures on usefilm. the connection is slow so i get the text before i get to see the photo... i read all 20 comments before finally looking at the picture. i must say i read some great comments and i was building a picture in my head following the guidelines of the descriptions... after seeing the work, i must say i am disappointed. i expected something totally different and/or better. the image has nothing that says survival and i agree with Q, the pose is boring and played out. And the overused motion blur's impact seems to be gone as well... sorry but that's what i think. Cheers patrick

I don't like it. This is the lone survivor emerging to move away from the "bad stuff", whatever that maybe. However, the pose is more like someone leaving her home to go to work, an everyday occurance, than that of a survivor. The pose is too relaxed in my opinion. The expression is closer to mild curiosity than pain, or fear, or bravery or any of the other expressions I normally think of when I think of survival. The missing left leg is too distracting. I spend more time trying to figure out how you are able to stand up than wondering what horrible event lead up to this moment, or what uncertain future you must face alone, or what internal strength you must pull forth to have survived.

It's got a very lonely look to it. The blur adds a bit of drama as well (always with the blur, eh, Anne?). ;)
It's very cool.

Absolutely beatiful, the photograph and yourself. I love the blackness around you and the almost blackness of the floor. The slight motion blur on the lower half of your body is great. You have such a wonderful portfolio.
