About Found this picture of my dad by the WWII B-17 Bomber "Nine O' Nine" that I took a few years back. Wondered what the history of the "Nine O' Nine" was and it was quite amazing. She was built in Long Beach California in 1945 and was part of the Air/Sea 1st Rescue Squadron and later in the Military Air Transport Service. In April 1952 she was subjected to the effects of three different nuclear explosions. She was restored in 1965 and was used as a fire bomber. In 1987 she crashed during a landing at an air show, no deaths, and was restored a 2nd time. She was named after the original "Nine O' Nine" completed 18 missions over Berlin and then was scrapped after the war.
