About Just returned from a trip in the High Sierras. Very pleasant and great hiking weather, which is what the Sierras are all about. This is a straight out jpeg shot with a slight crop.

Superb shot in everyway. I love these sort of shots where part of a peak is illuminated by the sun, even more so here with the superb reflection in the water.

Hi Stef, to get fg and bg perfectly exposed, you need grad filters. I have used 2-stops here. a CPL was useful to cut down the glare from the water.

adode gamma is the worst calibration possible, frankly :-) basically, s/w only calibration doesn't just work. I have gone through all these a while back and then just gave up.

Very valid point indeed. I am viewing this in non factory setting monitor (a CRT) but this is not calibrated as well. Probably I will take a look again from my home monitor which is lcd but calibrated, per adobe gamma.

beautiful as usual. nice control over exposure. colors are nice, looks quite vibrant, except for the blue which i find a tad over saturated for my liking.

Excellent work Debjit!

Lovely colours and composition. But what I like the most is the lighting of this shot, with both the foreground and the background perfectly exposed. How did you do that? Did you use a CP filter?

Cheers,
Stef

Thank you Anindya. well, it depends on what kind of monitor you are viewing. normally, factory setting are too high, if you compare with the prints. the brighter the monitor, the more tone down it would have been required, but then again I would have metered differently. yes, this is a problem with digital imaging :-)
