About I recently had the privilege of shooting a traditional Native American Indian wedding. According to the tribe, it is only the second traditional Native American Indian ceremony ever held in the State of Washington since it gained its statehood in 1889. It was an amazing event!

Thank you Andre. My brother-in-law is Native American Indian (from the Nooksack tribe). The gal pictured here is his cousin. I have always had an interest in the Native American culture.

It was such an amazing honor to be a part of this wedding and to have been able to capture this historical event on film.

I am still working on editing the photos. I will post more as I go. My assistant and I shot over 2,000 frames at the wedding. We'll see how many I end up with when all is said and done.

Good luck to your son and his studies!

Excellent job on this set of images Sheila.
We will be seeing more and more of the Native North Americans re-claiming their traditional cultures over the next few years. You were indeed privileged to be able to be there to photograph the event. It was a little piece of history. My oldest son is currently involved in the Native American Studies, Sociology Dept. at Harvard. He is currently working on his thesis that explores the relationship between Native People's and non Native People's in Northern Ontario. In other words, what has gone right and what has gone wrong with relations in the past.
During the past year he has also been invited by a lot of the First Nations People's to be present at a lot of ceremonies that most people would never have the chance to see.
